Psalm 23:3 - God Leads Us in the Paths of Righteousness
Thoughts on Today’s Verse…
This verse is from David’s poem. It tells Jehovah God’s salvation for him. Each of us follower of God can sense David’s feeling. Before turning back to God, I hurriedly spent each day. Sometimes I thought: For what do we live on earth? Like people of times past getting through life and experiencing birth, death, illness and old age? Every day I rushed about and brought home the bacon. Though my material life is satisfied, I felt hollow and not assured within. Previously, I saw from the news that an actor committed suicide because he reached the summit of his career. Many famous people feel hollow within. Thus, they pursue extreme-sports or take drugs. Some of them lose their life for that. Some are discredited. These common cases make me eager to know how to live a meaningful life, and how to fill the emptiness within.
After believing in God, I saw God’s words say: “A world in man’s heart with no place for God is dark, empty without hope. … For without the guidance of God, no matter how much rulers and sociologists wrack their brains to preserve human civilization, it is to no avail. No one can fill the emptiness in man’s heart, for no one can be the life of man, and no social theory can free man from the emptiness with which he is afflicted.” “He desires to seek, seek your heart and your spirit. He wants to bring you food and water and to awaken you, so you are no longer thirsty, no longer hungry. When you are weary and when you begin to feel the desolation of this world, do not be perplexed, do not cry. Almighty God, the Watcher, will embrace your arrival any time. He is watching by your side, waiting for you to turn back. He is waiting for the day your memory suddenly recovers: becoming conscious of the fact that you came from God, somehow and somewhere once lost, falling unconscious on the roadside, and then, unknowingly having a father. You further realize that the Almighty has been watching there, awaiting your return all along.” “When the heart of mankind understands the heartfelt words of the Creator, mankind will reject Satan and come to the side of the Creator; when mankind has completely washed the dirt from his body, and has once more received the provision and nourishment of the Creator, then the memory of mankind will be restored, and at this time mankind will have truly returned to the dominion of the Creator.” These words make me know only God can awaken our heart and spirit, and free us from the emptiness, and lead us to walk the path of the significant life. From then on, I keep reading God’s words every day, often share and fellowship with brothers and sisters, and also perform duty in the church. I feel unprecedented released and happy. In daily life and workplace, when I encounter temptations or seduce of social trends, I will pray to God, asking Him to protect my heart from being influenced and quiet before God. Hence, my life become enriched and every day I can have some gains. To read this poem once more, I can feel God’s love even more. It is God who leads me down the right path of life.
