Proverbs 16:9 - Only the Lord Guides My Way
Thoughts on Today’s Verse…
Every one with lots of experiences has first-hand knowledge of this verse. Even unbelievers find something to say about this after they have experienced a lot. As we always say, “Farming depends on man, harvesting depends on Heaven.” “Man proposes, God disposes.” Success or failure is not up to man but depends on the ordination of God. However, we always plan and prepare for our future, such as finding a good job or having a happy marriage. We can make a thousand plans or ten thousand plans, but after we have been through a lot, we realize that we sometimes cannot find a job we love, but something we don’t want to do becomes our job; and that the object of our affections is not necessarily the person with whom we will be able to share our life, and meanwhile someone we never expected becomes our other half. Step by step, we deeply understand that all is led and guided by God and that we are not in control of our own fate. The proverb tells us that we should surrender our plans and obey God’s sovereignty and arrangements. Only thus can we receive God’s blessings.
God says, “From the moment you come crying into this world, you begin to perform your duty. You assume your role in the plan of God and in the ordination of God. You begin the journey of life. Whatever your background and whatever the journey ahead of you, none can escape the orchestration and arrangement that Heaven has in store, and none are in control of their destiny, for only He who rules over all things is capable of such work. Since the day man came into existence, God has been steady in His work, managing this universe and directing the change and movement of all things. Like all things, man quietly and unknowingly receives the nourishment of the sweetness and rain and dew from God. Like all things, man unknowingly lives under the orchestration of God’s hand. The heart and spirit of man are held in the hand of God, and all the life of man is beheld in the eyes of God. Regardless of whether or not you believe this, any and all things, living or dead, will shift, change, renew, and disappear according to God’s thoughts. This is how God rules over all things.”
