Watch and pray, that you enter not into temptation: the spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak.
Matthew 26:41
Thoughts on Today’s Verse…
This verse is the words of exhortation from God to us and His will is to remind us: In this dark and evil world, Satan often uses money, fame and gain, status, evil lusts, and more to tempt us, so we must be more alert, and watch and pray so that we are unable to leave God and Satan will have no opportunity to exploit. Otherwise, when Satan’s temptations come upon us, even if we want to satisfy God and practice God’s words, we can’t overcome the weaknesses of the flesh and instead, we are always tempted by Satan and ensnared in the temptations of Satan. At the same time, from the Lord’s words, we can know the power of prayer is great, and that it’s the most powerful weapon that the Lord gives us to triumph in Satan’s temptations. Through often watching and praying, we can maintain a normal relationship with God, gain God’s care and protection, and overcome various temptations of Satan. God says, “Prayer is one of the ways in which man cooperates with God, it is a means by which man calls upon God, and it is the process by which man is touched by God’s Spirit. It can be said that those who are without prayer are dead ones without spirit, proof that they lack the faculties to be touched by God. Without prayer, people are unable to attain a normal spiritual life, much less are they able to follow the work of the Holy Spirit; without prayer, they sever their relationship with God, and are incapable of receiving God’s approval. Being someone who believes in God, the more you pray, the more you are touched by God. Such people have greater resolution and are more able to receive the latest enlightenment from God; as a result, only people like this can be made perfect as soon as possible by the Holy Spirit.”
After we understand the importance of prayer, we should often quiet our hearts before God, offer true prayers to God, and ask God to look after us and protect us, so that our heart won’t leave God.
