I am an ordinary Christian and eighty-two years old this year. It is God’s protection that leads me to today, especially during a thrilling car accident. I deeply feel that my life is in God’s hand, and God is my only reliance!

On December 11, 2015, the sky was overcast and the weather was cold. I was in my room when my neighbor, Mr Wang asked me if I wanted to go to the orchard to buy some grapefruits outside the village. He said the grapefruits there only cost a few cents per pound. I decided to buy some back for my children since they were so cheap. So, I took my snake-skin bag and sat on his electrical tricycle. Mr Wang’s wife drove the car. Mr Wang sat beside her and I sat at the back of the electrical tricycle. When we were on the road out of the village, Mr Wang’s wife started to speed up. However, when driving about two hundred meters away, I heard a loud bang. Without enough time for reacting, both the electrical tricycle and three of us fell into a fishpond. My entire body fell into the water. The electrical tricycle pressed against my leg and I couldn’t move. Soon, the water started to flow into my mouth and nose, which made me hard to breathe. I thought: I am going to die. What should I do? I struggled in the water, and used all my strength trying to move the electrical tricycle away from my leg, in order to reduce the weight on my leg, but I couldn’t move it. I could only try to lift my head up out of the water, but after a while I felt tired, as if my neck was broken. When I took a little rest, the water submerged to my chin. Then I quickly swung my arms, trying to lift my head up again. At that moment, how I wished someone could help me, and bring me up to the shore! But except for Mr and Mrs Wang in the water, there was no one on the road. In desperation, I thought of God. Then I prayed in a weak voice: “Almighty God! Please save me! Save me!”

After I finished praying, I heard someone shouting: “Help! Someone fell into the water! Someone fell into the water!” About ten minutes later, some villagers came down to the fishpond: Some pulled my arms; some tried to lift up the electrical tricycle on my leg. Suddenly, I felt much more relaxed. In my heart I clearly knew God had heard my voice for help, and He maneuvered the villagers to save me. After a short while, they pulled me up to the shore. Sitting on the shore, I shrank my body and trembled. There were full of sludge and weeds on my head, and my mouth was filled with dirty water. I was totally soaked, and water kept dripping down from my shirt. I was freezing, and my legs were numb. I panted and my heart beat fast. I kept repeating to myself: “Thank God! Thank God!” Then, the villagers pulled Mrs Wang up to the shore. Her body was also full of sludge and weeds, and her mouth was filled with a lot of water. Being choked, she coughed nonstop, and she said weakly: “Cold! Cold! Cold!” Someone said: “Quickly bring her back for a hot bath first, then bring her to the hospital. She needs more help.” Afterward, Mr Wang was also being saved. His face was full of sludge, and blood dripped down his cheek. Miraculously, all I felt was cold. There was nothing wrong with me. Our village chief said in surprise: “This is really a miracle! She is already so old, but she only got a little scared. Hades does not want her, even if she wants to die. The saying, ‘man’s life is fated by Heaven’ is really right!” Another man said: “Yes, by right she is already eighty years old, when she got into such an accident in this kind of cold weather, she would have been gone, but she is perfectly fine. She is so fortunate!” Hearing their discussion, in my heart I knew clearly: I am a believer of Almighty God; this was Almighty God’s power; I am so fortunate because I have received God’s protection! I couldn’t help but shed tears of excitement.

After getting my news, my daughter quickly brought me back home, letting me rest on the bed. Until five o’clock in the afternoon, my daughter told me Mr Wang’s wife was sent to the hospital, but less than half an hour later, she died. Mr Wang got a severe head injury, and had a few stitches. I was shocked by the news, and my tears rolled down uncontrollably. I kneeled down and prayed to God: “Almighty God! Thank You for saving me today. It was Your care and protection that kept me alive when I fell into the fishpond. I will do my duty well in the future to repay Your love. You gave me life, and I will live for You in the future.”

The next day, a sister came to visit me. She read two passages of God’s word to me: “In the long course of human life, almost every individual has encountered many dangerous situations and faced many temptations. This is because Satan is standing beside you, its eyes constantly fixed on you. When disaster strikes you, Satan revels in this; when calamities befall you, when nothing goes right for you, when you become entangled in Satan’s web, Satan takes great enjoyment from these things. As for what God is doing, He is protecting you with each passing moment, steering you away from one misfortune after another and from one disaster after another. This is why I say that everything man has—peace and joy, blessings and personal safety—is in fact all under God’s control; He guides and decides the fate of every individual” (“God Himself, the Unique III”). “For the lives and everything of people who follow God are ruled and orchestrated by God, and Satan is not entitled to manipulate God’s chosen ones at will—you should be clear about this point!” (“God’s Work, God’s Disposition, and God Himself II”). Then she fellowshiped: “We live in this world, while Satan is eying us with hostility. It wishes we lose our life and fall into its traps, but God is always by our side with His care and protection, protecting us away from being devoured by Satan. Those who do not believe in God will be abused by Satan easily, and they will lose their life anytime. Yesterday, you and your neighbors all fell into the water, although you are already eighty years old, you were not injured. But one of your neighbors was dead and the other was injured, even though they were twenty years younger than you. This shows us that our life is controlled by God and only God can determine our life, because we believe in Him!”

After hearing God’s words and the sister’s fellowship, I was touched and said: “Yeah, when I fell into the fishpond, I thought I would be dead, but when I prayed to God, He reached out His hands to me, and arranged the villagers to save me from death. I really thank God for His mercy and salvation!”

Seeing me escape from death, my daughter witnessed God’s power and miraculous deeds. Therefore, she stopped opposing me from believing in God, but encouraged me to believe in God. This unusual experience makes my stature more mature. Especially I gained more knowledge of God’s authority. I am just an inconspicuous and ordinary lady, but God always takes care of me, and He saved me at the life-and-death moment. With God by my side protecting me, I felt blessed. Thank God! May all the glory be with Almighty God!
