“Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear My voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with Me” (Revelation 3:20). From this prophecy about the Lord Jesus’ return in the last days, it can be seen that the Lord will knock at our doors when He returns. So, in what way will the Lord knock? And how can we welcome the Lord when He knocks? Let’s fellowship on these questions.
How Will the Lord Knock at Our Doors When He Returns?
When the Lord returns, in what way exactly will He knock at our doors? The answer to this question is essential for our welcoming the Lord. Revelation 3:20 prophesies clearly, “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear My voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with Me.” This verse tells us that only those who hear God’s voice and open their doors to Him will feast with the Lord. So, when the Lord Jesus comes, how will He knock at our doors with His voice? Would it be, as many believers imagine, that the Lord personally knocks at our doors to tell us that He is back? In fact, the Lord Jesus has told us the answers a long time ago. The Lord Jesus prophesied, “I have yet many things to say to you, but you cannot bear them now. However, when He, the Spirit of truth, is come, He will guide you into all truth: for He shall not speak of Himself; but whatever He shall hear, that shall He speak: and He will show you things to come” (John 16:12–13). In Revelation 2–3, it has been prophesied seven times that “He that has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” From these verses we learn that after the Lord returns, He will speak to the churches and express the truth to provide for man, and hence the Lord admonishes us that everyone who has an ear should listen. In other words, the true meaning of “I stand at the door, and knock” is that when the Lord returns in the last days, He will speak words to man and knock at the door of our hearts with His utterances. This is how the Lord will knock.
When the Lord Knocks, What Should We Do to Welcome Him?
After knowing the way in which the Lord will knock, the next question naturally follows: What should we do in order to welcome Him?
The Lord Jesus said, “And at midnight there was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom comes; go you out to meet him” (Matthew 25:6), “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me” (John 10:27). And the Book of Revelation prophesies, “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear My voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with Me” (Revelation 3:20). These words show that the key to welcoming the Lord’s return is to heed God’s voice. When there’s someone testifying that the Lord Jesus has come and expressed truths, behind the scenes, it is actually the Lord using people to transmit His voice to us and knock at our doors, so what we should do is to be the wise virgins, open the door to our hearts, actively seek and investigate to see if it’s God’s voice and whether there’s truth expressed. Once we recognize the voice of God, we should accept and follow the returned Lord without hesitation. Only in this way can we welcome the Lord and attend the feast of the Lamb. Just as when Jesus came to work, Peter, John, and other apostles all welcomed the Lord by listening to God’s voice: When they heard the powerful, authoritative words of the Lord Jesus, which could provide sustenance for mankind anytime, anywhere, they determined that the word of the Lord Jesus was indeed the voice of God. They knew that the Lord Jesus was the Messiah who was to come, so they resolved to follow Him and thus gained the Lord’s salvation. The Jewish chief priests, scribes, and Pharisees, on the contrary, kept the door to their hearts sealed and paid no attention to God’s voice, regardless of how much truth the Lord Jesus had expressed and how great the authority and power contained in Lord Jesus’ words. They even tried by all means to find fault with the Lord Jesus and, in the end, nailed Him to the cross. By doing so, they committed a heinous crime and were punished by God consequently.
Therefore, if we want to welcome the Lord’s return in the end times, we should learn from the Pharisees’ failure, open our hearts and heed God’s voice, lest we miss the chance to welcome the Lord. That is to say, if there is testimony of the Lord Jesus’ return, we should pay attention to listen to God’s voice. And when we do hear God’s voice, doesn’t it mean that we have seen God’s appearance and welcomed the Lord?
The Lord Is Knocking
Now, in the entire world, only the Church of Almighty God is openly testifying that the Lord Jesus has returned and that He is Almighty God, who does the work of judgment in the last days and has made a big splash in the world. Almighty God has expressed millions of words of truth to knock at our doors. Whoever sees it is left with no choice but to acknowledge that the words of Almighty God, with power and authority, is indeed the truth and the voice of God. Listen …
Almighty God says, “But so long as the old world continues to exist, I will hurl forth My rage upon its nations, openly promulgate My administrative decrees throughout the universe, and visit chastisement upon whosoever violates them:
“As I turn My face to the universe to speak, all mankind hears My voice, and thereupon sees all the works I have wrought throughout the universe. Those who set themselves against My will, that is to say, who oppose Me with the deeds of man, will fall under My chastisement. I will take the multitudinous stars in the heavens and make them anew and, thanks to Me, the sun and the moon will be renewed—the skies will no longer be as they were and the myriad things on the earth will be renewed. All will become complete through My words. The many nations within the universe will be partitioned afresh and replaced by My kingdom, so that the nations upon the earth will disappear forever and all will become a kingdom that worships Me; all the nations of the earth will be destroyed and cease to exist. Of the human beings within the universe, all those belonging to the devil will be exterminated, and all who worship Satan will be laid low by My burning fire—that is, except for those now within the stream, all will be turned to ashes. When I chastise the many peoples, those in the religious world will, to varying extents, return to My kingdom, conquered by My works, because they will have seen the advent of the Holy One riding on a white cloud. All people will be separated according to their own kind, and will receive chastisements commensurate with their actions. All those who have stood against Me will perish; as for those whose deeds on earth have not involved Me, they will, because of how they have acquitted themselves, continue to exist on the earth under the governance of My sons and My people. I will reveal Myself to the myriad peoples and the myriad nations, and with My own voice, I will sound forth upon the earth, proclaiming the completion of My great work for all mankind to see with their own eyes.”
“I was once known as Jehovah. I was also called the Messiah, and people once called Me Jesus the Savior with love and esteem. Today, however, I am no longer the Jehovah or Jesus that people knew in times past; I am the God who has returned in the last days, the God who shall bring the age to an end. I am the God Himself that rises up from the end of the earth, replete with My entire disposition, and full of authority, honor, and glory. People have never engaged with Me, never known Me, and have always been ignorant of My disposition. From the creation of the world until today, not one person has seen Me. This is the God who appears to man in the last days but is hidden among man. He resides among man, true and real, like the burning sun and the blazing flame, filled with power and brimming with authority. There is not a single person or thing that shall not be judged by My words, and not a single person or thing that shall not be purified through the burning of fire. Eventually, all nations shall be blessed because of My words, and also smashed to pieces because of My words. In this way, all people during the last days shall see that I am the Savior returned, and that I am the Almighty God that conquers all of mankind. And all shall see that I was once the sin offering for man, but that in the last days I also become the flames of the sun that incinerate all things, as well as the Sun of righteousness that reveals all things. This is My work in the last days.”
These words of Almighty God were all uttered directly to mankind. Based on His position as the Lord of all creation, Almighty God speaks with God’s unique authority and power, which makes the words undoubtedly the voice of God. Because, apart from God Himself, who else could speak to all mankind? Who else could express to man God’s intention of saving humanity? Who else could announce God’s administrative decrees to the entire universe? Who else, other than God, could make heaven and earth anew? And who else could classify man according to their kind? No one except God! It is in His identity as the Creator that God speaks to mankind and reveals His disposition of justice and unoffendable majesty. Therefore, after hearing Almighty God’s words, all those with a heart and a spirit feel that every bit of God’s words contains authority, power, and majesty, which makes it evident that it is God’s voice and that the words are God’s very utterances to mankind. Aren’t all these enough to prove that the Lord Jesus has returned?
Almighty God has now expressed millions of words, which have been made available online for the world to seek and investigate. This is the Lord knocking at our doors and also the testimony that the Bridegroom has come. However, some people ignore Almighty God’s authoritative and powerful words and insist on keeping their hearts closed and refuse to investigate: Aren’t they the foolish virgins? If we want to follow closely the Lamb’s footsteps and attend the feast, the only path is to be the wise virgins, pay heed to God’s voice, accept and submit to God’s voice as soon as we recognize it. Just as prophesied in Revelation 3:20, “Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear My voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with Me.”
