Yes, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for you are with me; your rod and your staff they comfort me.
- Psalm 23:4
Thoughts on Today’s Verse…
On the path of following Jesus Christ, we will encounter many temptations and attacks from Satan. We’ll feel confused, and even fall in danger, just like walking through the valley of the shadow of death. When we look up to and rely on God with a sincere heart and believe that God is surely with us, and that He will strengthen our faith, we will be firm and emboldened and have the faith to walk through the valley of the shadow of death. Just as when David was hunted by Saul. Though David was in danger several times, by relying on Jehovah, he did not fear that. He believed that God was with him, gave him faith and strength, and protected him from being hunted by Saul. In the experience of David, he truly felt God’s presence, saw His deeds, and uttered his praise. For this reason, he became the king of Israel, and was most in accordance with God’s will. The story of David told us that people liked by God can truly rely on Him as David did. No matter what danger and tribulation we may encounter, God cares for and protects us from danger all the time, so that we can walk through the valley of the shadow of death. God says, “Always return to your spirit, because I love those who love Me with all their heart. Because you draw close to Me, I will protect you and keep you away from those evil ones, I will make you stand firm in My home and guard you until the end.”
