The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid?
- Psalm 27:1
Thoughts on Today’s Verse…
This sentence is the testimony of David’s faith in God and also strengthens our faith in God. By relying on his faith in God, David defeated Goliath, escaped from the chase of Saul many times, and finally became the king of Israel. From David’s experience we can see God is our true salvation and the safeguard of our life. Recall the process of our following God: There were so many times that we encountered some dangers and Satan’s temptations, but we believed that God is our support and our strength, and that God is always by our side and has never left us. And as long as we truly relied on and looked up to Him, God would point out the way to us and lead us to get through the adversity. It makes us see that only God is our salvation and that our life and death are in God’s hand. We also understand it is the time that God tests and perfects us when the hardships come upon us. So, we do not feel afraid. God’s word says, “You shouldn’t be afraid of this and that. No matter how many difficulties and dangers you face, you shall remain steady before Me; do not be obstructed by anything, so that My will can be carried out. This shall be your duty, otherwise you shall face My wrath and My hand will…, and you will endure endless mental suffering. You must endure all, you must relinquish everything you have and do everything you can to follow Me, pay all the costs for Me. This is the time that I shall test you, will you offer your loyalty to Me? Will you follow Me to the end of the road with loyalty? Be not afraid; with My support, who could ever block the road? Remember this! Remember! Everything that occurs is by My good intention and all is under My observation. Can your every word and action follow My word? When the trials of fire come upon you, will you kneel and call out? Or will you cower, unable to move forward?”
